Child Safeguarding

Child Protection

For Parents/Carers

We welcome children from the age of ten to our club

We cannot provide archery or training for children under ten for health and safety reasons

Torquay Company of Archers, as part of Archery GB, is fully committed to supporting all children and young people to achieve their potential in archery. We uphold the guidance set out by the Government in their document ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’, revised in December 2020.

We understand that providing a positive environment where children and young people are protected from harm is vital for making sure we provide the best possible outcomes for children and young people

We accept the duty of care to protect and promote the wellbeing of all children and young people regardless of their age, sex, religion or beliefs, ethnic background, disability, sexuality, social situation or economic background.  We are committed to making sure safeguarding practice reflects our legal responsibilities, government guidance and best practice.

As such, we have a moral and legal responsibility to put procedures in place to:

  • Provide a duty of care for children and young people
  • Protect the wellbeing of children and young people
  • Protect children from physical, sexual or emotional harm, neglect and bullying
  • Provide a positive and enjoyable experience of sport in a safe and child-centred environment

Please note that a child or young person is any person under the age of 18 and  should be accompanied by a parent/carer during their time at our Club.  We cannot accept children being left at Torquay Archers to be collected later.

Should you, as a parent/carer, have a safeguarding concern, please contact in the first instance:-
